Our Compassionate Staff Teach Our Boarding School Students a Better Way to Live
Gateway Boys Academy serves boys ages 11 to 17 who have made rebellious choices in life. Our military school is in the panhandle of Florida, and our academy is accessible from Williamson, West Virginia and cities across the nation. While the program is very disciplined and structured, we commit to demonstrating the love of God to every single cadet, surrounding him with compassionate care. Many of our staff have been in your situation, either having attended a similar program themselves or having enrolled a teen of their own in our military school in the past.
Boys are Transformed through Gateway Boys Academy
Boys start in our basic training platoon with the supervision of drill instructors. For the first few months, physical training, a packed schedule, attention to neatness and chores give them structure and establish order in their lives.
At Gateway, boys figure out how to stop struggling against authority and start to increase in confidence by mastering challenges that are constructive as an alternative to their previously destructive activities. Over time, they promote to higher levels, earning privileges and responsibilities along the way. The top level military school cadet is eligible for off-campus sports, outreaches, and travel.
Academic Success through First-Rate Curriculum and Certified Teachers.
Most boys who were failing or falling behind not only catch up but get ahead. Gateway meets all qualifications by the State of Florida for high school graduation, and students earn diplomas when they complete our academic program. Our school operates year-round as students study at their own speed through top-notch curriculum and certified teachers. Our high standards allow credits to transfer to public institutions or to go on to college or the military.
Boys Discover a New Spiritual Relationship, Direction and Purpose In Life
Spiritual life forms a large part of life at Gateway Boys Academy. We offer to every cadet a relationship with Jesus and strive to establish a Godly atmosphere favorable to Christian growth. Students attend group Bible studies, go to chapel twice a week, and work with a counselor to pursue individually assigned Bible studies designed to build character.
Family Restoration is Our Hallmark
At Gateway Boys Academy, we give attention to family restoration. After four months of enrollment for the cadet, parents begin attending weekend conferences for teaching on boundaries and effective parenting.
Most boys in our program turn away from their self-destructive behavior to an attitude of serving others. If your teenage boy needs order and discipline to change his direction, please consider Gateway, a Christian Boarding School.
Although it is not located in Williamson, West Virginia, Gateway can be the type of environment your son needs to create a change for the better. We invite you to call or fill out our inquiry form for our boarding school today.

Williamson is a city in Mingo County, West Virginia, USA, along the Tug Fork River. The population was 3,414 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Mingo CountyGR, and is the county’s largest and most populous city. Williamson is home to Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College. The Tug Fork River separates Williamson from South Williamson, Kentucky.
Williamson is the site of a large rail yard built by the former Norfolk and Western Railroad , which was built to service the many coal mines of the region. The city is protected by a floodwall, completed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1991 in response to a devastating flood along the Tug Fork River in 1977. The wall incorporates floodgates along major access points which, when locked, form a solid barrier against floodwaters. There have only been two uses of the gates thus far: the first occurring in 2002 during a major flood in the region, and the second occurring in 2003, when only two lower lying gates were closed in anticipation of rising water levels.
The local economy is largely fueled by coal mining, transportation, health care and retail.
