Our Compassionate Staff Teach Our Boarding School Students a Better Way to Live
Gateway Boys Academy serves boys ages 11 to 17 who have made rebellious choices in life. Our military school is situated in the panhandle of Florida, and our campus is reachable from Kearneysville, West Virginia and cities around the nation. While the program is very disciplined and structured, we commit to demonstrating the love of God to every single cadet, surrounding him with compassionate care. A number of our staff have been in your situation, either having attended a similar program themselves or having enrolled a child of their own in our military school in the past.
Boys are Transformed through our Christian Military School
Boys start in our basic training platoon with the supervision of drill instructors. For the first months, physical exercise, a packed schedule, attention to neatness and chores give them structure and establish order in their lives.
At Gateway, boys figure out how to stop struggling against authority and begin to grow in confidence by mastering challenges that are constructive rather than their previously destructive activities. Eventually they promote to higher levels, earning privileges and responsibilities in the process. The highest level student is eligible for off-campus sports, outreaches, and travel.
Academic Success through High-Quality Curriculum and Passionate Teachers.
Most boys who had been failing or falling behind not just catch up but get ahead. Gateway meets all qualifications by Florida for high school graduation, and students earn diplomas at the completion of our academic program. Our school operates year-round as students work at their own speed through top-notch curriculum and certified teachers. Our high standards allow transfers to public institutions or to go on to college or the military.
Boys Discover a New Spiritual Relationship, Direction and Purpose In Life
Spiritual things are important at Gateway Boys Academy. We strive to introduce every cadet to a relationship with Christ and strive to maintain a Godly atmosphere helpful to Christian growth. Students attend group Bible studies, go to chapel two times a week, and spend time with a counselor to discuss individually assigned Bible studies meant for character development.
Family Restoration is Our Hallmark
At Gateway, we focus on family restoration. After four months, parents begin attending weekend events for teaching on boundaries and effective parenting.
Most boys in our program turn away from their self-destructive behavior to a life of serving others. If your teenager needs order and discipline to put his life in order, please consider Gateway.

Kearneysville is an unincorporated community in Jefferson County in the U.S. state of West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle. According to the 2000 census, Kearneysville and its surrounding community has a population of 6,716. Kearneysville is located along West Virginia Route 9 at its intersection with West Virginia Route 480 halfway between Martinsburg and Charles Town.
Settlement in the area that later came to be known as Kearneysville began in the mid-18th century. Thomas Fairfax, 6th Lord Fairfax of Cameron sold land to various settlers, the first of whom was Nicholas Lemen in 1756. The next settler was General Horatio Gates, an American Revolutionary War general who named his holdings Traveller’s Rest. Following him were Uriah and James Kearney, Sr., for whose family the village was named. The town grew slowly at first, but with the coming of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in the 1830s, the population increased throughout the county and local farmers began to take advantage of this faster means of transportation. In 1876, Kearneysville was the site of Jefferson’s first commercial apple orchard. Because of its central location in the Panhandle, today Kearneysville is home to the Burr and Bardane Industrial Parks and is one of the fastest growing areas of Jefferson County with its many expansive residential communities such as Chapel View and the Village of Washington Trail.
