Our Compassionate Staff Teach Our Students a Better Way to Live
Gateway Boys Academy serves boys ages 11 to 17 who have chosen a dangerous path in life. Our campus is located in the panhandle of Florida, and our campus is reachable from Beaver, West Virginia and cities across the nation. While the program is very disciplined and structured, we focus on demonstrating the love of God to each and every cadet, surrounding him with compassionate care. Several of our staff have been in your shoes, either having been through a similar program themselves or having enrolled a child of their own in our military school in the past.
Boys are Transformed through our Christian Military School
Teens start in our basic training platoon with the supervision of drill instructors. For the first months, physical exercise, a packed schedule, attention to neatness and chores surround them with structure and establish order in their lives.
At Gateway, boys figure out how to stop struggling against authority and start to grow in confidence by mastering challenges that are constructive as opposed to their previously destructive activities. Eventually, they promote to higher levels, acquiring privileges and responsibilities as they move up. The upper level military school cadet is able to do off-campus sports, outreaches, and travel.
Academic Success through First-Rate Curriculum and Skilled Teachers.
Most students who had been failing or falling behind not just get up to date but get ahead. We meet all qualifications by Florida for high school graduation, and students earn diplomas when they graduate our academic program. Our academy operates all year long as students study at their own pace through high-quality curriculum and certified teachers. Our high standards allow credits to transfer to public institutions or to go on to college or the military.
Boys Discover a New Relationship with God, Direction and Purpose In Life
We emphasize spiritual life at Gateway Boys Academy. We offer to every cadet a relationship with Jesus Christ and strive to establish a Godly atmosphere conducive to Christian growth. Students attend group Bible studies, go to chapel twice each week, and work with a counselor to complete individually assigned Bible studies meant to build character.
Family Restoration is Our Hallmark
At Gateway, we focus on family restoration. Four months after the cadet enrolls, parents begin attending weekend seminars for teaching on boundaries and effective parenting.
Most students in our program turn away from their self-destructive behavior to a desire for serving others. If your son needs order and discipline to put his life in order, please consider Gateway.
Although not located in Beaver, West Virginia, Gateway can be the type of environment your teen needs to create a positive change. Please call or submit our inquiry form for our boarding school today.

The population was 1,308 at the 2010 census.GR The West Virginia community got its name around 1860 from the great numbers of beavers abounding in the creeks during the early days of settlement, according to A History of Shady Spring District compiled by the Shady Spring District Womans Club in 1979. When the community was eligible for a post office in the early 1900s, the residents discovered another West Virginia town already had the name. In 1929 or 1930, Grover Hedrick bought Ritter Lumber Co. and had the community name changed to Glen Hedrick.
