Understanding, Compassionate Staff Teach Our Students a Better Way to Live
Associated with the nationally recognized Teen Challenge program, Gateway Boys Academy serves teenage boys ages 11 to 17 who have gone off-track with life. Our military school is in the panhandle of Florida, and our academy is accessible from South Bend, Indiana and cities across the nation. While the program is very disciplined and structured, we believe in demonstrating the love of God to every cadet, surrounding him with compassionate care. A few of our staff have been in your shoes, either having completed a similar program themselves or having enrolled a son of their own in our military school in the past.
Our Military School Paves the Way for Transformation
Boys start in our basic training platoon under the supervision of drill instructors. For the initial few months, physical exercise, a packed schedule, attention to cleanliness and chores surround them with structure and establish order in their lives. They learn to stop struggling against authority and begin to get confidence by mastering challenges that are constructive as opposed to their previously destructive activities. Eventually they promote to higher levels, gaining privileges and responsibilities along the way. The highest level student is allowed to do off-campus sports, outreaches, and travel.
Teaching the Importance of Academic Success
Our school operates year round as students study at their own speed through first-rate curriculum and certified teachers. Most boys who had been failing or falling behind not only get up to date but get far ahead. We meet all qualifications by Florida for high school graduation, and students earn diplomas at the completion of our academic program. Our high standards allow transfers to public institutions or to go on to college or the military.
A New Spiritual Relationship, Direction and Purpose
Spiritual things are important at Gateway Boys Academy. We offer to every cadet a relationship with Jesus and strive to create a Godly atmosphere encouraging to Christian growth. Boys attend group Bible studies, go to chapel twice weekly, and spend time with a counselor to discuss individually assigned Bible studies designed to build character.
A Concentration on Family Relationships
At Gateway Boys Academy, we give attention to family restoration. Four months after the cadet enrolls, parents begin attending weekend seminars for teaching on boundaries, godly marriages, and effective parenting.
Most boys in our program turn away from their self-destructive behavior to an attitude of serving others. If your son needs order and discipline to turn his life around, please consider Gateway.
Although not in South Bend, Indiana, it can be the kind of environment he needs to generate a positive change. We invite you to call or fill out our inquiry form for our boarding school today.
|More about Christian military schools near South Bend, Indiana: |
South Bend is the county seat of St. Joseph County, Indiana, United States,GR on the St. Joseph River near its southernmost bend, from which it derives its name. As of the 2010 Census, the city had a total of 101,168 residents; its Metropolitan Statistical Area had a population of 316,663 and Combined Statistical Area of 544,582. It is the fourth largest city in Indiana, and the economic and cultural hub of the Michiana region, with the University of Notre Dame located just to the north in unincorporated Notre Dame, Indiana.
The area was originally settled in the early 18th century by fur traders, and established as a city in 1865. The St. Joseph River shaped South Bend’s economy through the mid-20th century. River access assisted heavy industrial development such as that of Studebaker, Oliver Chilled Plow Company, and other large corporations.
The population of South Bend has declined since a peak of 132,445 in 1960, chiefly due to the demise of Studebaker and other heavy industry. The 2000 census recorded a population increase of 2.2% from 1990, the first since 1960. Today, the largest industries in South Bend are health care, education, small business, and tourism. Remaining large corporations include Crowe Horwath, Honeywell, and AM General.
