Understanding, Compassionate Staff Teach Our Boarding School Students a Better Way to Live
As part of the nationally recognized Teen Challenge program, Gateway Boys Academy serves boys ages 11 to 17 who have chosen a dangerous path in life. Our campus is located in the panhandle of Florida, and our school is reachable from Salt Lake City, Utah and cities around the nation. While the program is very disciplined and structured, we commit to demonstrating the love of God to every single cadet, surrounding him with compassionate care. A number of our staff have been in your situation, either having been through a similar program themselves or having enrolled a teen of their own in our military school in the past.
Our Military School Paves the Way for Transformation
Boys begin in our basic training platoon with the supervision of drill instructors. For the first months, physical training, a packed schedule, attention to neatness and chores surround them with structure and establish order in their lives. They realize they can stop struggling against authority and begin to grow in confidence by mastering challenges that are constructive as opposed to their previously destructive activities. In time, they promote to higher levels, earning privileges and responsibilities along the way. The upper level military school cadet is able to do off-campus sports, outreaches, and travel.
Understanding the Importance of Academic Success
Classes run year-round as students study at their own pace through high-quality curriculum and certified teachers. Most students who have been failing or falling behind not only catch up but get ahead. Gateway meets all established by the State of Florida for high school graduation, and students earn diplomas when they complete our academic program. Our high standards allow students to transfer back to public institutions or to go on to college or the military.
A New Spiritual Relationship, Direction and Purpose
Spiritual things are important at Gateway Boys Academy. We strive to introduce every cadet to a relationship with Jesus Christ and strive to establish a Godly atmosphere conducive to Christian growth. Young men attend group Bible studies, go to chapel services twice weekly, and meet with a counselor to pursue individually assigned Bible studies intended for character development.
A Concentration on Family Restoration
At Gateway Boys Academy, we concentrate on family restoration. After four months, parents begin attending weekend events for training about boundaries, healthy marriages, and effective parenting.
Most boys in our program turn away from their self-destructive behavior to a lifetime of serving others. If your teenager needs order and discipline to turn his life around, please consider Gateway.

Salt Lake City, often shortened to Salt Lake or SLC, is the capital and the most populous city of the U.S. state of Utah. With a population of 186,440 as of the 2010 Census, the city lies in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, which has a total population of 1,124,197. Salt Lake City is further situated in a larger urban area known as the Wasatch Front, which has a population of 2,238,697. It is one of only two major urban areas in the Great Basin (the other being Reno, Nevada), and the largest in the Intermountain West.
The city was founded in 1847 by Brigham Young and his Mormon followers, who extensively irrigated and cultivated the arid valley. Due to its proximity to the Great Salt Lake, the city was originally named “Great Salt Lake City”the word “great” was dropped from the official name in 1868. Although Salt Lake City is still home to the headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), less than half the population of Salt Lake City proper is Mormon today.
Immigration of international LDS members, mining booms, and the construction of the first transcontinental railroad initially brought economic growth, and the city was nicknamed the Crossroads of the West. It was traversed by the Lincoln Highway, the first transcontinental highway, in 1913, and presently two major cross-country freeways, I-15 and I-80, intersect in the city. Salt Lake City has since developed a strong outdoor recreation tourist industry based primarily on skiing, and was host to the 2002 Winter Olympics. It is the industrial banking center of the United States.
