Understanding, Compassionate Staff Teach Our Boarding School Students a Better Way to Live
Associated with the nationally recognized Teen Challenge program, Gateway Boys Academy serves boys ages 11 to 17 who have gone off-track with life. Our boarding school is located in the panhandle of Florida, and our campus is reachable from Connecticut and cities around the nation. While the program is very disciplined and structured, we believe in demonstrating the love of God to every single cadet, surrounding him with compassionate care. Many of our staff have been in your shoes, either having attended a similar program themselves or having enrolled a son in our school in the past.
A Christian Boarding School that Paves the Way for Transformation
Students start in our basic training platoon beneath the supervision of drill instructors. For the initial months, physical training, a packed schedule, attention to cleanliness and chores provide them with structure and establish order in their lives. They figure out how to stop struggling against authority and start to get confidence by mastering challenges that are constructive instead of their previously destructive activities. In time, they promote to higher levels, acquiring privileges and responsibilities in the process. The senior level military school cadet is allowed to do off-campus sports, outreaches, and travel.
Learning the Importance of Academic Success
School takes place year round as students work at their own pace through top-notch curriculum. Certified teachers offer assistance as needed. Using this type of system, most students who had been failing or falling behind not only get caught up but get far ahead. We meet all requirements by the State of Florida for high school graduation, and students earn diplomas when they graduate our academic program. Our high standards allow credits to transfer to public institutions or to go on to college or the military.
A New Spiritual Relationship, Direction and Purpose
We emphasize spiritual life at Gateway Boys Academy. We strive to introduce every cadet to a relationship with Jesus and strive to maintain a Godly atmosphere helpful to Christian growth. Boys attend group Bible studies, go to chapel twice each week, and work with a counselor to pursue individually assigned Bible studies meant for character development.
Concentration on Family Restoration
At Gateway Boys Academy, we promote family restoration. After four months of enrollment for the cadet, parents begin attending weekend events for training about boundaries, strong marriages, and constructive parenting.
Many boys in our program turn from their self-destructive behavior to an attitude of serving others. If your teenage boy needs order and discipline to turn his life around, please consider Gateway, a Christian Boarding School.
Although it is not in Connecticut, it could be the sort of environment he needs to generate a change for the better. We invite you to call or fill out our inquiry form for our boarding school today.

Connecticut is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States. It is bordered by Rhode Island to the east, Massachusetts to the north, and the state of New York to the west and the south (with which it shares a water boundary in Long Island Sound).
Connecticut is named for the Connecticut River, the major U.S. river that approximately bisects the state. Its capital city is Hartford. Much of southern and western Connecticut (along with the majority of the state’s population) is part of the New York metropolitan area; three of Connecticut’s eight counties are statistically included in the New York City combined statistical area, the same area is widely referred to as the Tri-State area. Connecticut’s center of population is in Cheshire, New Haven County, which is also located within the Tri-State area.
Connecticut is the 3rd least extensive, the 29th most populous, and 4th most densely populated of the 50 United States. Called the Constitution State, Nutmeg State, and “The Land of Steady Habits”, Connecticut was influential in the development of the federal government of the United States.
Connecticut’s first European settlers were Dutch and established a small, short-lived settlement in present-day Hartford at the confluence of the Park and Connecticut rivers, called Huys de Goede Hoop. Initially, half of Connecticut was a part of the Dutch colony, New Netherland, which included much of the land between the Connecticut and Delaware rivers.
The first major settlements were established in the 1630s by the English. Thomas Hooker led a band of followers overland from the Massachusetts Bay Colony and founded what would become the Connecticut Colony; other settlers from Massachusetts founded the Saybrook Colony and the New Haven Colony. Both the Connecticut and New Haven Colonies established documents of Fundamental Orders, considered the first constitutions in North America. In 1662, the three colonies were merged under a royal charter, making Connecticut a crown colony. This colony was one of the Thirteen Colonies that revolted against British rule in the American Revolution.
The Connecticut River, Thames River, and ports along the Long Island Sound have given the state a strong maritime tradition, which continues today. Connecticut’s other traditional industry is financial services; for example, insurance companies in Hartford and hedge funds in Fairfield county. As of the 2010 Census, Connecticut features the highest per capita income, Human Development Index (0.962), and median household income in the United States. Although Connecticut is a wealthy state by most measures, the income gap between its urban and suburban areas is striking, with several of Connecticut’s cities ranking among the nation’s poorest and most dangerous.
