Boot Camps in Holiday, Florida Can Help Troubled Teens Learn to Respect Authority
Public opinion gives military schools, especially boot camps, a reputation for making wayward teens get back on the straight and narrow path. As a matter of fact, in several positive ways, boot camps can help troubled teens. Boot camps offer a crash course in discipline, personal integrity and regard for authority. Programs like these can send a wake-up call to a teen who might otherwise ruin his life with crime. For those who are shaped by it, boot camps can give them a new understanding of the consequences of their actions. For some individuals, boot camps can initially help them move from unhealthy habits, to more appropriate behavior. But those bad attitudes often return.
Boot Camps Can Help Troubled Boys Change their Behavior, But Many Teen Issues Go Beyond the Behavior
Even though boot camps can help troubled teens in some cases, most teenage issues are much more complex than they seem on the surface and are often only symptoms of other issues. Boot camps rely entirely on forcing compliance; they do not include the therapy to help teens resolve the true underlying issues. For teens displaying anxiety, depression, drug use, poor self-esteem, emotional disorders, and in fact most forms of rebellious behavior, the stressful boot camp environment may prove harmful instead, if it isn’t set up in a way that the discipline is coupled with Christian love and support.
Most boot camps in Holiday, Florida on their own will not deal with family communication issues but simply return a somewhat more respectful teen to the same home environment in which he was struggling. Boys who attend boot camps are more likely to return to old habits. In fact, boot camps in Holiday, Florida are typically a short-term solution at best, and may be harmful to the teen at worst. Sadly, teens often revert to past behavior after returning home from short-term boot camps, because the length of the program doesn’t instill the attitude changes as a habit in their life.

It is a suburb included in the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 21,904 at the 2000 census. The name Holiday, like the names of many towns, comes from a spark of marketing inspiration. At a board meeting of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Tarpon Springs on Oct. 13, 1966, members discussed naming the new branch of the bank as the Holiday branch, since the post office had a substation on Holiday Drive nearby. In November 1967, board members suggested to local builders and newspaper reporters that future events in the area be referred to as occurring in Holiday. The bank gave away 1000 license plates for the front of automobiles reading Holiday Florida (Gloria Focht in WPH). |
