Boot Camps in Hephzibah, Georgia Can Help At-Risk Boys Learn to Respect Authority
Popular opinion gives military academies, especially boot camps, a reputation for making unruly teens into respectable young citizens. In truth, in several positive ways, boot camps can help troubled teens. Boot camps provide a crash course in discipline, personal integrity and respect for authority. Programs like these can send a powerful message to a teen who is moving toward a life of crime. For the ones who respond well to it, boot camps can give them a new understanding of the consequences of their actions. For some teens, boot camps can initially help them move from unhealthy habits, to more appropriate behavior. But those bad attitudes often return.
Boot Camps Can Help Troubled Teens Change their Behavior, But Many Teen Issues Go Beyond the Behavior
Even though boot camps can help troubled teens in some situations, most adolescent issues are much more complex than they seem on the surface and are only the symptoms of other issues. Boot camps rely entirely on forcing compliance; they do not offer the therapeutic support to help teens deal with the true underlying issues. For teens exhibiting anxiety, depression, drug or alcohol use, low self-esteem, emotional disorders, and in fact most forms of rebellious behavior, the stressful boot camp environment may prove detrimental instead, if it isn’t set up in a way that the discipline is coupled with Christian love and support.
Most boot camps in Hephzibah, GA on their own will not deal with family concerns but simply return a somewhat more compliant teen to the same home environment in which he was struggling. Then he will return to old habits. For this reasons, boot camps in Hephzibah, GA may be a short-term solution at best, and may be harmful to the teen at worst. Fact is, teens often revert to past behavior after returning home from short-term boot camps, because the length of the program doesn’t make the good attitudes, respect and discipline a habit in their life.

Hephzibah is a city in south Richmond County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is part of the Augusta Richmond County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 4,011 at the 2010 census.
Hephzibah was originally named Brothersville, after the three Anderson brothers who were among the earliest settlers. Around the town, a seminary of learning was established by the Hephzibah Baptist Association in October 1860 and soon the town became known as Hephzibah after the school and the Hephzibah Baptist Church were built (1862). In 1870, Brothersville was officially renamed Hephzibah by the state of Georgia, after the wife of Hezekiah in the Biblical book of Second Kings. Hephzibah is a Hebrew name meaning “my delight is in her.”
Due to the 1996 consolidation of Augusta and unincorporated Richmond County, Hephzibah is surrounded to the west, north, and east by consolidated Augusta (including many areas within the Hephzibah ZIP code).
